GENERAL

• Are there any restrictions on vessels whose previous port call was from COVID -19 high risk countries?
• NO. However, all vessel masters must make accurate Maritime Declarations of Health and well-being of all on-board to the Authorities. Any false declaration will be viewed in a serious light and reported to the South African Maritime Authority and Port Health officials for further action resulting in detention, fines, and additional stricter measures. Vessel Masters must make a declaration of the crew who joined the vessel in the last 30 days and the transit points they went through and stowaways if any on-board.

• No
• Crew change permitted?
• YES. Subject to the following regulations
• All crew arriving at a South African port to join a vessel, must provide a valid certificate of negative COVID-19 test recognised by the WHO, and must be obtained not more than 72 hours before arriving in South Africa.
• Failure to do so would mean that the crew must undergo an antigen test on arrival, at vessel owner/operators own cost. No costs will be borne by the state.
