- As travel restrictions have begun to ease, the number seafarers looking to undertake crew changes in Australia is starting to return to pre?pandemic levels.
- Australias Department of Home Affairs has noted that a number of Crew / Manning Agents are lodging multiple visa applications for individual crew members to fly to Australia often at the same time. Please do not lodge both Visitor and Transit applications for the same crew member at the same time.
- Lodging multiple applications for the same crew member at the same time, where only one visa is actually required, is creating an unnecessary visa delivery/processing backlog and delays in visa finalisations because all applications must be decided under Australian law, even if no longer required. As only a Maritime Crew or Bridging visa may be held at the same time as another visa, the second visa granted out of the Transit and Visitor visa applications will cease the first visa granted. This is likely to cause confusion for your crew members.
